I am looking to get a fast scanner for a good price. The one I have takes like 45 seconds to a minute to do a single card. If anyone knows of any, let me know.

Thank You,
Erik

Erik ,
I bought a Lexmark copy printer scanner for $129 It can do 8 cards on 1 run and when you crop them individually it takes about a minute to 1 1/2 minutes to do all 8 cards, best money I ever spent on computer items and it is wireless so can go anywhere you want it when you are cramped for space around the computer it is nice. it says lexmarkx7675

Good luck Mark Stoddard

Normal $100-150 multi-use printer/fax/scanner take about 15 sec PER Scan and by the time you are done, you have spent about 1 minute per card. We used to use them for the house and the store.

We now have a VERY FAST scanner with a document feeder and we scan 1000s of cards each week and on the flat bed, its 2 secs / scan and we CANNOT keep up with how fast it does single cards on the flatbed.

We bought an expensive The Fujitsu fi-6240 series

http://www.1st-in-scanners.com/fujitsu/fi-6140.htm This one is the document feeder only and we have seen this @ COMPUSA for about $600

The next one we buy will be the ADF only verison above as we have the flatbed one already.

You can find older versions and re-furbished ones on eBay and they will save you money on the latest version. A friend of ours from ATL bought on eBay and has been very happy with it.

Time is money and scanning takes alot of time. We have scanned and loaded over 100,000 images on SportsBuy so far this year with the newer faster scanners. We still used the older systems sometimes, but try and use the 2 second/scan flatbed and put all the images on a key fob and then upload from there. It's amazing the time savings from have all the images scanned and ready to be uploaded.

You will not regret this investment in your business.

Also, we have found that for flatbed scanning the default Microsoft software that comes with windows is the EASIEST to use and allows for simple naming. We do not like the big photoshop-like programs that come with all the newer scanners. That is for any scanner model you have. The default softrware is found under CONTROL PANEL - Scanners and Cameras.

So how does that scanner work? Do you feed the cards through it? Or do you have to place them under the cover like a all in one printer? Thanks for the reply,

Erik,

You can feed them through and it does not mess up the cards, that is for base cards. You can use gaming sleeve deck protectors if you want and we know some who do, but that takes time and has other issues.

But for most normal base cards or inserts, the ADF works wonderful. For foil cards and the like, we hand scan alot of the off the flatbed. Game Used and thick cards have to be done on the flatbed, but again, these are 2 sec per scan and we cannot keep up and can do alot of single scan in one minute. I would dsay 15-20 per minute but i have timed it.

Damn, that sounds awesome. If I can find a decent one on ebay I will be bidding on it. Do you know if all of thier scanners with the adf work with sports cards?

Thanks again,
Erik

The ADF is for mostly papers. This scanner is sold to alot of doctors offices and lawyers for scanning in (on both sides) medical and legal documents.

It just happens to work on alot of sports cards as well. I would get a flatbed version as it is very handly for game used, autos, framed and thicker cards.

Yes I would get one with the flatbed. Just wondering if there are only some of thier scanners you can use the ADF for cards for.

Thanks Rookies HQ
